QATAR POWER TRANSMISSION SYSTEM EXPANSION – PHASE-IX

This project is representing the new stage of QATAR POWER TRANSMISSION EXPANSION to continue the reinforcement to the main transmission networks and to secure the power supply to industrial and domestic sectors. Also,
The main roles of this stage are:-

  1. To accommodate forecasted load growth developed of the infrastructure & address out of firm conditions of 66/11kV networks.

  2. Modification & upgrade of existing network to accommodate the new substations and associated cable/OHL works.

  3. To support the network voltage level, enhance network security and basic requirements.

  4. GCC two 400kV Circuits from Salwa s/s to DSS will be linked with the four, 400kV circuits from Mesaieed Power Company to Abu Nakhlah Super at the new Logistic Zone Super. The link will provide extra flow flexibility in the four directions that increase the reliability of the network.

  5. Relief out-of firm substations and meet N-1 Criteria to increase system reliability and security.

  6. New Saliyah 220/132 kV will take care of the load in the area in case Saliyah power station is retired.

There are 22 new primary substations and upgrade of 8 existing substations, 297.7 km of new cable, 61.6 km of new OHL plus modification in existing cable & OHL.
