KAHRAMAA Sponsors PMI – Qatar Branch Workshop

 

Under the sponsorship and patronage of Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA", the Projects Management Institute’s (PMI) Qatar Branch organized its periodic workshop in Doha on February 2007 under the theme "Capital Projects at KAHRAMAA".

The seminar was attended by H.E. Issa Shaheen Al-Ghanim, KAHRAMAA Vice Chairman and Engineer Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti – Manager of PMI, Qatar. In addition to KAHRAMAA Directors, Managers and staff, Engineers, Projects Managers of KAHRAMAA as well as members of the Institute along with students of George Town University in Qatar, attended the seminar.

The Start:
The workshop started with a brief presentation about PMI branch in Qatar, its activities, its tasks and programs; the presentation delivered by Eng. Ibrahim Al-sulaiti Branch Director. This was followed by a presentation  by the students of George Town University.

VC Speech:
H.E. Issa Shaheen Al-Ghanim, Vice Chairman of Qatar General electricity & Water Corporation, then addressed the participants of the seminar emphasizing on KAHRAMAA's experience since its establishment in 2000 in coping with major challenges and the large development that covers all sectors in Qatar.

He highlighted on the importance of the dedication of teamwork to achieve the goals to its extreme and considered an absolute success in KAHRAMAA experience in addition to create a good work environment based on the standard of "consistence of saying and doing" and making it a corporate value, it will enjoy unbridled success.

KAHRAMAA Projects Presentation:
The workshop ended with an overall presentation by Eng. Ahmad Al-Abdulla Director of Technical Affairs, on the projects development since the establishment of KAHRAMAA (2000) along with the major capital projects being executed by KAHRAMAA. H.E presented an overview on the preparation methods and execution, follow-up and the evaluation means followed to ensure project success of projects exceeding billions of Qatari Riyals spent in last years.

He also presented the future budgets that will be spent on projects to expand and develop electricity and water networks for the next five years as a response to the surge in demand for electricity and water in the country in all sectors.

Engineer Ahmad Al-Abdulla also presented the experience and efforts of the team in the field of operating, executing and following-up the projects in KAHRAMAA.

He also focused on the huge ongoing and under preparation projects in accordance with the corporation priorities, to strengthen and expand the capacity of electricity and water sectors.
