Eng. Ahmed Al Muhannadi, Manager of Customer Services Department, referred that KM is continuously updating the meter reading system. The new electronic meters have been installed and distributed on the new customers. The distance reading system through those meters will be run on during the first quarter of the year 2008.
Eng. Al Muhannadi clarified that this system is effective in reducing the human errors rate to zero, so the bill will be issued correctly as well as the reading process will be done without disturbing the customers. Also, highly actual data will be provided as substitute for the old method and getting over all difficulties that keep from reaching those meters located inside houses and buildings.
Eng. Al Muhannadi mentioned that there is a new meter reading device that solve the problem of reaching meters that was kept inside the building, meter readers staff founnd difficulties to collect the actual reading.
He stated that the new meter reading system is using special electronic register device similar to telephone on which customers' meters reading are being registered electronically. It was observed from the test made on this system the number of complaints on meter reading has been reduced. and the time spent in reading is much more less than time spent in the previous procedure.
Eng. Al Muhannadi added; KM is dealing with customers meter reading errors with full transparency clarifying that human errors can happen, but KM is considered one of the few corporations whose error percentage not exceeding (0,5 %), regarding customers' meters reading.
He continued saying that the new method comes as an essential part of the services provided to customers to improve the meter reading and collectin. As a preliminary step towards using new and modern systems It will also enable KM to save time and efforts through the implementation of distance electronic reading.
Eng. Al Muhannadi concluded; the improvment and developing of this system were associated with training courses given to meter readers staff, so as to raise their performance and qualifications, and came in line with the commitment of KM to satisfy customers' requirement.
