Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA" has signed a new contract on May 13, 2007 with Qatar University (QU) at its premises to study the Quality of Electricity Supplies in Qatar Electricity Network. The contract was signed on behalf of KAHRAMAA by Engineer Essa Hilal Al-Kuwari, Director of Electricity Networks Affairs in KAHRAMAA in the attendance of KAHRAMAA directors, managers and head of sections, and from QU side, the contract was signed by Dr. Hassan AL Derham, the University Vice Principal Assistant for Scientific Research Affairs with other QU officials attendance.

In this occassion Engineer Essa Hilal Al-Kuwari said, "The contracts comes to be as assurance of the quality of services provided by KAHRAMAA for its customers on one part, and that our scientific institutes in Qatar are capable and qualified to perform such scientific studies on the other. Getting the contract signed with Qatar University is considered one of the joint cooperation projects between KAHRAMAA and the University". 

The study deals with analyzing and measuring levels of coincidences at electricity substations which feed industrial loads. It is one of the important and basic issues in power disciplines. This is contributed to speediness and the great progress in connecting huge offline loads with electricity disciplines.

It is worth mentioning that the study will continue for six months during which the Study Supervisor, Dr. Al Lethi at Qatar University shall carry out an analytical study of the electricity networks by having actual readings from the network in Qatar and a number of substations namely Mesaieed Industrial City, Um Bab, Ras Laffan and Doha. Thereafter, the University shall provide KAHRAMAA with the study's outcomes for use.
