| Kahramaa amended electricity and water tariffs for the Commercial and Hotel sectors |

The Board of Directorsof "Kahramaa" has approved an increase of electricity and water tariffs for the commercial and hotel sectors of approximately 16% for electricity and 18% for water as from 1st. of September 2005.
Residential and industrial sectors' tariffs remains as it is without change, the increase of electricity and water tariffs is due to the increasing cost of electricity and water production in Qatar.
In spite of the increament the new tariff still under government subsidy.
For electricity consumed by the commercial sector, per unit charges will go from existing 8.0 dirhams to 9.0 for consumption from one unit (kilowatt/hour) to 4,000 units (kilowatt/hour). For consumption from 4,001 to 15,000 units, the charges per unit (kw/h) will be increased from 10 dirhams per unit to 12 dirhamsm, for consumption exceeding 15,000 units, the charges will be 14 dirhams per unit instead of 12 dirhams. For water, the commercial sector will be required to pay QR5.2 per cubic metres of consumption from September 1, instead of the existing QR4.4 dirhams. Cooperative stores outside Doha will have to pay 8.0 dirhams per unit of electricity consumed instead of 7.0 dirhams for consumption up to 20,000 units.
The rate for consumption exceeding 20,000 units will be 10 dirhams per unit instead of 9.0dirhams.
These cooperative stores will have to pay QR5.2 per cubic metres of water, instead of QR4.4, for any amount of consumption. Large hotels will be required to pay for power 9.0 dirhams per unit instead of 8.0 dirhams, for consumption up to 300,000 units, the rate will be 12 dirhams instead of 10 dirham, for consumption between 300,001 units and 500,000 units. The large hotels will have to pay 14 dirhams per unit of power consumed beyond 500,001 units, instead of 12 dirhams. Small hotels will have to pay 9.0 dirhams instead of 8.0 dirhams per unit of electricity for consumption up to 50,000 units. For units consumed between 50,001 and 100,000, the rate per unit will be 12 dirhams instead of 9.0 dirhams.
For consumption exceeding 100,000 units, the tariff will be 14 dirhams in place of 10 dirhams. Both large and small hotels will have to pay QR5.2 per cubic metres of water consumed instead of QR4.4, as from 1st.September. The tariff structure for the industrial sector remains unchanged. Electricity charges are 7.0 dirhams per unit for the sector, while water charges are QR4.4 per cubic metres. For the residential sector, the rates will continue to be 8.0 dirhams per unit of electricity for consumption up to 4,000 units and 10 dirhams for use beyond 4,000 units. The water tariffs are QR4.4 per cubic metres of water consumed for the residential sector.
