Supplying of Education City (Qatar Foundation) with electricity power is considered as one of the major project accomplished by Qatar General Electricity and Water,  “Kahramaa” recently, the project now is on it’s final phases. This  strategic  project  is to be completed within the coming few month’s.
The Education City electricity project was already connected with the national electricity networks since April 2005.
The project consolidate the infrastructure of education sector in the State of Qatar, the sector that witness a vast  and huge development recently.
The project was carried by Electricity Projects Department of Technical Affairs, with coordination with a specialized  Japanese International Company, and cost 165 MQR.
The project includes installing of a substation at Ghraffa area south/east with capacity 132/66/11 kv, beside anther substation to be set at the Education City area with capacity 11 kv., installing of double cable with capacity of 132 kv extends from Ghraffa substation to Ghraffa south/east substation and modifying of substations existing in the area to cope with the new substations  capacities, modifying  over head lines to earth lines with capacity of 132 kv at  Ghraffa  area extends 6,5 km, and to replace overhead lines with earth lines capacity of 132 kv between Ghraffa substation and Al-Wajbaa substation extends 10 km.
It’s worth noting that supplying of Qatar Education City with electricity power project was started since May 2003, “Kahramaa” provided Education City  with power supplies from Al-laQtaa  substation and Al-Swaide substation before establishing the project.
